Bill of Sale

What is a Bill of Sale?

A bill of sale is the document which transfers title to personal property.  In a bill of sale, the seller of the property should represent to the buyer of the property that the seller owns the property; has the legal authority to sell the property; agrees to defend title to the property; and represents whether or not the property is sold "as is".

What is Personal Property in Texas?

Personal property is generally everything that is not land or is attached in some manner to land.  Here are some examples of personal property: a lawnmower, a refrigerator, accounts receivable, business inventory, and furniture.

What is a Deed in Texas?

The equivalent of a bill of sale in real estate law is a deed.  Deeds transfer title to real property interests.

I assist clients in drafting, reviewing, interpreting, modifying, and negotiating bills of sale.
