Texas Laws Are Now More Homeowner Friendly

The actions of some Texas homeowner’s associations (HOAs) forced the Texas legislature to enact new laws to correct past abuses of power. Flags, religious symbols, solar panels, and rain water collection systems are now protected as long as they fall within the statutory guidelines. And foreclosure of liens securing the payment of HOA fees must now pass judicial scrutiny, as distinguished from non-judicial foreclosures that were the norm before the new legislation.  The new laws also require open HOA meetings, open records and record retention policies as well.
